Believe it or not, another school year is quickly coming to a close in Amigos en Accion, here in El Sauce, Nicaragua. This year has been full of learning, new experiences, growth, and obstacles to overcome. Our students have become a close-knit group of friends, despite coming from different schools and ranging in age from 8 to 14. While they have their differences, we are all learning how to respect those differences and be able to work together and learn from each other. In September, Nicaragua celebrates its independence with national parades; all students throughout the nation march in these parades, and many schools prepare a sort of marching band performance. All of our Amigos en Accion students were honored for their hard work in school by marching as cumplidores or excelencia for earning between 80%-100% in all of their classes, and a few of them earned the highest honor of carrying the flags! This year, we have implemented more group/team-building/self-esteem building activities and art projects to help our students to develop their whole selves. Most schools in Nicaragua do not offer art classes, and one thing that we have noticed is that our students struggle with being creative since they are simply not exposed to experiences that allow them to use and develop their creativity. Thanks to a generous donation of art supplies by Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, we have been able to include art projects as part of our program, which has helped our students to develop their creativity and recognize that they have artistic ability that they are able to express through these projects. All of these amazing experiences that our students get by participating in Amigos en Accion is made reality thanks to the donations of our supporters. Thank you to everyone who has made donations to allow us to keep our program running! In order to keep our program financially stable, we are looking for people willing to become monthly donors. Would you consider supporting Amigos en Accion as a monthly donor? Truly, whatever you are able to give makes a big difference for our students and our program! By becoming a monthly donor, your gift is automatically taken out of your bank account, which means you don’t have to think about it, and it also provides us with a consistent source of financial support that allows us to keep our program running. Remember, all donations are tax deductible, and they 100% of your donation goes directly to supporting the program (many thanks to JOS for making this possible)! If you are interested in supporting us in this way, or know of someone else who would, follow this link: https://journeysofsolutions.org/make-a-donation/ Follow the directions under the “recurring” section and include Amigos en Accion in the field “Identify project to fund”. Again, thank you to everyone who has supported!
