As final details of the land purchase are completed, Pedro and Laura are working with the seller (an indigenous gentleman with deep ties to the local Mayan community) and local government to ensure the sacred site’s varied cultural and religious landmarks are preserved. Building materials have been purchased, and beginning construction of the Home School – which will provide a safe, supportive, ideally temporary home for children from the local Mayan community who are unable to live with family – now underway. Plans are currently being fine-tuned for the second phase of development, which will include an educational center that will offer parent, work and agricultural skill training for women affected by domestic violence, providing families with the resources and skills they need to recover and rebuild. In July 2019 board member Kirsti Shields together with her husband and children returned to the Solola area of Guatemala : Kirsti hopes to return again in 2020.Click here to add your own text
