The 4 Walls Project is proud to boast that all of its contributors’ money goes to construction materials and wages for Nicaraguan workers. No overhead. No administration costs.

Building better lives

The 4 Walls Project began almost 10 years ago when a nurse and a Peace Corps volunteer borrowed a truck and bought some bricks to help a family in need. Bonnie and Meghan had so much fun they decided to do it again. And again. And again! Today the 4 Walls Project has built more than 100 houses.

A talented staff of Nicaraguan people runs the operation. They are supported by friends in the United States who raise funds and encourage adventurous volunteers to make the trip to El Sauce, Nicaragua, for the fun and the joy and the same life changing experience Meghan and Bonnie had in 2007.

Before

Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. UNICEF reports that almost half the country lives on less than $1 per day. Many families live in houses cobbled together of plastic, scrap lumber, and mud.

After

“I am happy because my daughter who is seven years old now sleeps peacefully. She doesn’t worry about getting wet or being hit by a falling piece of stone.”
Luz Idalia, 4 Walls beneficiary

Built by professional Nicaraguan masons, 4 Walls houses are safe, secure places to call home.
